yokai has got such a good vibe - no egos, just solid training and good people. i started training in my mid fifties, a bit late to the game but joey and phil have been brilliant helping me navigate it all. They've created a space where everyone is welcome regardless of age or experience. the sessions push you in the right way, I genuinely look forward to it.

The quality of instruction is first rate- in class the fundamentals are always emphasised and techniques that may seem complicated at first are explained in such a way that with practice anyone can apply them effectively. Everyone helps each other we have a laugh and genuinely enjoy the time we spend together on the mat. if someone is training once a week to stay fit they receive the same support as someone training full time who wants to compete - every gym says they have a family atmosphere but come and try it and see for yourself.

I've been training BJJ for the past 7 months and its one of the best things i've done, the gym is run by Phil & Joey and you couldn't ask for better coaches, their if a strong no d*ckhead approach, everyone who trains is super friendly and made me feel comfortable straight away. I'd recommend getting down and trying it for yourself.
